Wedding Shoes

I always thought the most difficult part of planning my wedding would be finding a wedding dress.... I was wrong! The dress was the easy bit, within an hour I had found the one. It seems that my biggest issue is finding the perfect shoes! I have spent many hours searching the internet and shops for shoes and have found nothing. It's not that I am fussy because I have tried to find something with just some of the elements I am after and still no luck. One of the issues I am having is I need to have an ankle strap, but most of the shoes with an ankle strap either are peep toe (which I hate) or have a low heel. I need the height as I am only 5ft and my partner is over 6ft. I will obviously never manage to get to the same as height as him but a little bit of extra height would be nice. I have really awkward feet as well. I am only a 3 and a half but I have really wide feet as well.
So as you can see I have a few issues when it comes to shoes. This is when I decided to take a look into designing my own shoes. I came across a couple of great websites one of which is Upper Street London and the other Shoes of Prey. Both of these sites are great. You can design exactly what you want and have a choice of materials for different parts of the shoe to be made of. I'm not going to lie this is an expensive option but in my case I think it is worth it. I am getting exactly what I want and they are going to fit well.
Here is some of the designs I came up with.

The top design was created on Upper Street London and the other two on Shoes of Prey. I included the purple in the shoe because my bridesmaids will be wearing purple. I have now ordered one of these designs and I am so excited I can't wait to get them. I ordered from Shoes of Prey as I managed to get the design just right on there and they were slightly less expensive than Upper Street London. I would however highly recommend both sites to anyone looking for the perfect shoe! It is so much fun designing them. I will probably keep playing around with these sights just for fun and maybe save up for some more pairs .

What do you think? Do you like my designs? Which would you choose?

If you are viewing my blog tonight please be patient with me i am in the process of changing the design and it is taking a little longer than anticipated so it looks like a mess but hopefully will be worth it in the end!

Dilemma Birchbox VS Glossybox February

I'm in the middle of a very serious dilemma! I made the decision that I needed to cancel either my Birchbox or Glossybox subscriptions this month as I really need to start saving some money and can't justify paying for both each month. Problem is which one?  I decided to wait until I got this month's boxes to make my decision, unfortunately both boxes this month are great which didn't help me at all. So I thought it would be a good idea to share with you what I got in my boxes this month and ask you what you think?

Let's start with the Birchbox as I received it first.

The products included are
Beauty Protector Protect & Oil
Eyeko Skinny Liquid Eyeliner
Urbanveda  Purifying Daily Facial Wash
Gilchrist & Soames The London Collection Shower Gel
Leighton Denny Nail Colour
Green & Black's Dark 70% Chocolate

I am so excited with this box. I have wanted to try Leighton Denny and Eyeko products for a long time and never gotten round to it. I have never heard of the Beauty Protector oil or the Gilchrist & Soames shower gel but am excited to give them a go. I have tried an Urbanveda product before and loved it but not this particular one so it's nice to try something else in their range. As for the Green and Black's ..... well you can never go wrong with a bit of chocolate :)

Now for the Glossybox

The products are
Ciaté London Paint Pot
NV Chunky Lip Crayon
Giovanni Eco Chic Cosmetics Chic Ultra-Moist Range or Ultra-Sleek Range
Nougat London Sparkling Body Shimmer
Maybelline New York Big Eyes Mascara
Lindt Lindor Treat Bar

Initially the thing I was most excited about was the chocolate bar as I love the Lindt Chocolate! Yum Yum! Then I thought I better look at the beauty items. The item that jumped out as I knew we were receiving this is the Ciaté Paint Pot. I am excited to try this brand. In fact I did do a little test when I got it. It goes on so smoothly and the colour is amazing. It dries really quick, and basically is a pleasure to use. Then I spotted the Maybelline Mascara, I'm sure I have seen someone talk about this recently and thought it looked interesting so I can't wait to try it. The rest of the products are by brands I have never heard of but am equally excited to try! I have to say as well the box is beautiful! I love when Glossybox do their special edition boxes and this one is fab!

So can you see my problem? So happy with both boxes this month. Do I be naughty and keep both subscriptions? Cancel one? Or cancel both? I don't know what to do. I really need to save some money towards the wedding and doing up my house so I really can't justify continuing both my subscriptions :( What do you think I should do??

A couple of morning's ago we woke up to snow in the Scottish Borders! It didn't last past lunch time but I managed to take little Jess out for a walk round the garden for her first experience of the white stuff! I managed to get a couple of pictures.

(The not so great view from my window!)

(yes my cat has a lead she is too little to go out herself yet and it's cute! )

(Little paw prints in the snow)

She is such a little cutie, it was so nice to see her experiencing something for the first time. She absolutely loved it. She was a little annoyed when I made her come back inside, but I just didn't want to keep her in the cold too long. She's just not used to it. So just wanted to share these pictures of cuteness with everyone and I hope you all enjoyed it!

Wedding Busy Bags

One of the issues that has come up whilst creating the guest list for my wedding is that there is going to be a lot of kids there and we need a way to keep them amused! So the easiest option was to get some colouring in books and crayons and things but that just seemed a bit crappy. So one day I was looking through some magazines that a friend had kindly handed down to me after her wedding, and she had marked a page with an advertisement about a company called All About Party Bags that made party bags starting at around £1.60. I decided to have a look and see if there was anything suitable and I was so impressed that I placed an order. They have such a wide choice it's great. You can choose exactly what you want in the bag, what kind of bag and what colour you want. I could probably have made these myself but finding the time just now is a little difficult and I am still struggling with my depression so motivation is kinda low. The fact that I can get someone to make them for me is great and such a relief, it's one less thing to do. They have a few delivery options as well so if you are in a hurry for them it's no problem. Brilliant. The order process was easy, the delivery was quick and as stated and the quality is absolutely brilliant and what I would expect. I got  a bag for younger kids called the Fun Pack Wedding Busy Bag. Inside it has :

  • An animal fun pack with 16 activities and a pop point pencil with 10 coloured leads
  • A wedding 'thanks for coming' choc and little pack of Haribo
  • Some wedding bubbles
And it's all tied up in a purple cellophane bag :)

I am so happy that I decided to purchase these and would highly recommend them to anyone who has a lot of kids coming to their wedding, or any other event as they do such a wide range of party bags you are bound to find something to suit!

You can find them at

Liebster Blog Award

Hello Folks, so the lovely Keisha of The Chrysalis Gals has nominated me for a Liebster Blog Award :) Thank you Keisha x

From what I can gather this award serves as a way of giving blogs with small amounts of followers a bit of a platform and getting them out there. Can't be a bad thing surely. :)

There are a few rules :

  • You must link the person who nominated you.
  • You must answer all 11 questions set by the person who nominated you.
  • You must nominate 11 of your favourite blogs and give them 11 questions to answer.
  • You cannot nominate the person who nominated you.
  • And don't forget to let the people you have nominated know by leaving them a message :)

The Questions Keisha has set :
  • Why did you start blogging?
I started blogging because I was reading a lot of other people's blogs and I thought it looked
like a great way to get my opinions out there as I am a very opinionated person. Also I was
just really beginning to get interested in beauty products and now I have an excuse for buying
          so much! :)
  •  What advice would you give to a newbie blogger?
I would say just be yourself, write about what you are passionate about, don't write what you
           think people want to read.

  •  In 3 words how would you describe yourself?

Determined, Friendly, and a little bit crazy :)
  • Who or what inspires you?
So cliche but my parents inspire me. I have a younger brother who was born blind and just the
way they have coped over the years and fought for what's best for him is amazing. I don't
           know how they do it.
  • If you could have any dream career in the world what would it be?
I really don't know the answer to this question. Just any career which I could really enjoy I
guess. I just haven't made up my mind what that is yet.
  • What makeup/beauty item would you never leave home without?
Definitely some sort of lip product, lip balm probably. Especially now the colder weather is
           making an appearance in Scotland.
  • If I was to take a peek inside your purse what would I find?
An awful lot of rubbish that I don't need!! Reciepts, mints, pens, a notebook, deodorant,
perfume, keys, my purse and goodness knows what else.
  • Which Makeup brand is your absolute favourite and why?
I don't have a favourite but I would say my preferred high street is Rimmel because I have so
many products by them and high end probably Mac because the quality is sooooo good.

  • Bold lipstick or neutral?
For everyday I would have to say neutral.
  • What is your shoe preference? flats, wedge or stiletto?
I really like a wedge, so much easier to walk in :)
  • What would be your dream vacation?
Somewhere I have already been twice, Australia. I would like to see a lot more of it though. I
would love to spend a lot of time out there, I would live there if I could.

Now my Nominations are

And my questions are:
  1. What made you start blogging?
  2. What do you hope to achieve for/from your blog?
  3. What is your favourite thing about yourself?
  4. What is your top make up item at the moment and why?
  5. Where is your favourite place to be?
  6. Who inspires you?
  7. Other than blogging, how do you like to spend your free time?
  8. Tea or coffee?
  9. Do you have any pets? What are their names?
  10. What is your favourite childhood memory?
  11. What one thing is always guaranteed to make you smile?
Thanks to Keisha for nominating me, lets keep this going girls. :)

MUA Haul

Oops! I have been shopping again! Been a little less naughty this time though and have went with a lot of Mua purchases which only cost me around £20 in total. Bargain. I have only ever tried one of their eyeshadow palettes before, and I love it and use it most days. So I decided it was about time I tried a few more products. I decided to go for

Matte Palette - Ever After £4.00
Lash Boom Mascara - Ultra Black £3.00
Kiss Proof Lip Stain - Fabulicious £1.50
Gel Eyeliner - Underground £3.00
Lipstick - Shade 1 (dark red) £1.00
Blusher - Candyfloss £1.00
Blusher - Cupcake £1.00
Undress Your Skin Highlighting Powder £3.00
Matte Eyeshadow - Shade 16 £1.00
Fashionista Secret Vanishing Cream £3.00

Candyfloss, Cupcake, and Eyeshadow Shade 16 (sorry not great picture of the eyeshadow)

Lipstick Shade 1 and Kissproof Lip Stain Fabulicious

Undress Your Skin Highlighting Powder

I was a little unsure what to expect quality wise with some of these products, especially the £1 ones, however I was pleasantly surprised to discover that the quality is much better than I expected. I haven't yet tried out the products other than the gel eyeliner (which I love) but from doing swatches I really like all of them. I would definitely recommend MUA products, whether you are on a budget or not. I think their star products really have to be their eyeshadow palettes. They are so pigmented and have such a good range of colours and all for only £4.00 each!!! You really can't go wrong with them. One thing I would say though is if you are in a hurry for the products find a Superdrug that sells them instead of ordering from MUA . It could just be a blip but it took well over a week to get my products and I believe they are saying it is taking a lot longer than usual at the moment, however I have read of a few people's issues with the length of time to get their order going back a bit. Other than that I am really pleased with my purchases.

Have you tried MUA? What products do you love?

Glossy Wedding Box

As you may or may not know I am getting married this July, so when I saw that Glossy Box had brought out a Wedding box I just had to get my hands on it. It's a little more pricey than the normal box at £25 however the contents are worth around £100. On looking at the products included online I wasn't all that excited but upon receiving the box I changed my mind. The box itself is a creamy colour with pink inside and the usually Glossy logo, and then some gorgeous paper and best of all instead of shredded tissue inside there is lots of pink petals. It is so nice.

Beauty Bird - Yes I Do Nail Polish £10.30
Becca - Shimmering Skin Perfector £33.00 for 50ml (we got 15ml)
Bellápierre Cosmetics - Volumizing Mascara £19.99
Model Co - Lip Duo £26.00
Naobay - Moisturising Facial Peeling £17.95
NYX Cosmetics - One Night In Morroco Make-Up Palette £15.00
And some little pink bows to clip onto your shoes

I am so pleased with this box and although I won't use all the products for my wedding I can definitely see why they have been included. No doubt I will find a use for everything at some point. The Beauty Bird Nail Polish is a lovely almost baby pink sort of colour. I may use this on the big day as it is so pretty. The Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector is such a nice highlighter I may end up using this all up before the wedding! The Bellápierre Cosmetics Mascara is amazing, feels like a real quality product and makes my lashes look great. One of the most handy products in the box would be the Model Co Lip Duo. It has lipstick on one end lipgloss on the other and a mirror in the middle! Perfect, except the colour. I might have to look into getting one in a colour I want. I will most definitely use the Naobay Moisturising Facial Peeling on the lead up, it smells gorgeous and really refreshing. I haven't yet tried it properly just a quick test on my hand but it is really gentle with tiny little exfoliating particles which should be perfect for the face. I think my favourite product is probably the NYX Cosmetics Make-Up Palette. It is just so handy. There are 8 Eyeshadows and a base and 4 Lip Colours all packed into this teeny little palette.

All in all as you can tell I'm very excited by this box and so glad I decided to get it. It's definitely worth the money and I can't wait to start using the products.
